配電系統中常用的交流供電方式有：
①三相三線制。分為三角形接線（0.4kv電動機和照明）和星形接線（用于低壓三相0.23kv工業照明配電以及0.23kv三相電動機）。
②三相四線制。用于0.4kv/0.23kv低壓動力與照明混合配電 。
③三相二線一地制。多用于農村配電（因為安全問題早已淘汰）。
④單相單線制27.5kv。常用于電氣鐵路牽引供電。
⑤單相二線制0.23kv(由三相四線制獲得)。主要供應居民用電。
配電系統由配電變電所（通常是將電網的輸電電壓降為配電電壓）、高壓配電線路（即1千伏以上電壓）、配電變壓器、低壓配電線路（1千伏以下電壓）以及相應的控制保護設備組成。配電電壓通常有35～60千伏和3～10千伏等。
